vietnam summer programme
BACK FROM VIETNAM! when the plane landed in singapore on wed, all of us started clapping. i guess none of us has ever missed singapore that much in our lives. it was a truly fun and memorable one. a country with all the motorbikes going "beep beep" continuously.crossing the road in viet was the first challenge. you must dare to step out and cross and never to step back or back track. everyone enjoyed the days spent there except for the seminars where everyone starts to doze off (riding a boat as quoted by stan). sleeping less than 5 hours and waking up for seminars are indeed 'memorable'. hanoi was much worse than HCMC. first was the hotel, dusty beds with stains on the bedsheet, have to mop the floor, others complained of cockroaches in the rooms, no doorviewer. then came the incidents where some random girl being chased after by a drunkard came thumping on our door and tried opening the door, us being followed by a guy near hoan kiem river, other group being cheated of taxi fare, and des being cheated of 90000 dong. it was so difficult to search for food at night in hanoi that we had to order room service one night. crossing the road in hanoi is 5 times worse than in HCMC, probably because there wasnt any traffic lights. but, even there's traffic lights in HCMC, the motorbikes couldnt care less. another incident in HCMC was being cheated of taxi fare while on our way from ben thanh market to the manicure place. the starting fare was lower compared to the taxis we usually took, then the meter started to raise every 5 sec as xz counted. decided to stop and alight and as he slowed down, the meter start rising even faster. tried to unlock the doors but we cldnt open the doors and only after cha gave the driver the money then the doors unlocked. what i enjoyed the most during this tip was cu chi tunnel and halong bay. despite getting dirty, sweaty and tired, we all had fun snapping photos, duck-walking through the tunnel, doing jumpshots on the boat at halong bay (which pissed the captain. i had so much fun thanks to my ever-oh-so-crazy roomies and serpens. there are so many 十连拍 in my cam now and all the crazy shots, drinking session, king's card, indian poker and "takaenoko takaenoko, neo gigi" ! have to start my journaling soon. just checked my mail and saw LLY's email saying that journaling dateline is 21 june! needa get my ass working to start on my 9 days of journaling soon! ps. im lazy but pictures will be uploaded soon on fb |
